Minor Surgery & Urgent Care

At LiveYoung Medical Centre, our physicians provide safe, effective, and timely minor surgical procedures in a fully equipped walk-in and family practice setting. These procedures are performed on-site, saving you long hospital waits and specialist delays — all while ensuring your comfort and safety.

Minor surgery includes office-based medical procedures performed under local anesthesia. They are usually short (10–45 minutes), require little downtime, and are done using sterile techniques. These procedures are ideal for treating skin conditions, repairing small injuries, removing growths, or relieving discomfort from infections and blockages.

Our clinic provides a comprehensive range of minor surgical services, including:

Skin & Soft Tissue Procedures

  • ✅ Excision of small cysts or lipomas
  • ✅ Abscess or boil incision and drainage
  • ✅ Biopsies of suspicious skin lesions for cancer screening

Nail & Foot Care

  • ✅ Ingrown toenail removal or partial nail excision
  • ✅ Toenail wedge resection to prevent recurrence
  • ✅ Treatment of infected or thickened toenails

  • ✅ Foreign body removal (splinters, glass, fish hooks, metal fragments)

Other Office-Based Procedures

A punch biopsy is a simple, office-based procedure used to remove a small, round sample of skin for laboratory testing. It is often recommended when a mole, rash, or skin lesion looks unusual, does not heal, or shows signs that require further investigation.

Why It’s Done

  • To rule out or diagnose skin cancer (such as melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma)
  • To evaluate chronic rashes or inflammatory skin conditions
  • To confirm diagnoses such as psoriasis, eczema, or fungal infec

Earwax buildup can cause hearing problems, ringing, dizziness, and ear pain. At LiveYoung, our physicians perform safe ear irrigation (ear flushing) to remove blockages.

OHIP Coverage for Earwax Removal

  • 🟦 Covered by OHIP if earwax causes symptoms such as hearing loss, infection, dizziness, or if it prevents proper examination of the ear.
  • 💳 Not covered by OHIP when requested for routine cleaning, prevention, or cosmetic reasons. Private fees apply.

⚠️ Avoid using cotton swabs or sharp objects at home, as they may push wax deeper or injure your eardrum.
