Why the MTO Requires Driver Medical Exams
- All commercial licence holders (Classes A, B, C, D, E, F) must undergo medical exams to confirm fitness for heavy vehicle operation.
- Senior drivers (age 80+) may be required to complete recurring medical exams.
- Drivers with certain medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, hypertension, vision disorders, cardiac issues) may be asked by MTO to submit medical reports.
- Occasionally, even G/M licence holders might be asked by the MTO to undergo a medical review under special circumstances.
- The frequency of required medical exams is age- and health-dependent (e.g. every 5 years, 3 years, or annually).
